WRITER

Julie Edgar is a journalist who has been reporting about the issues that matter to the people of southeast Michigan for two decades. She covered courts, government, and aging issues at the Detroit Free Press, and as an independent, writes about arts and culture, health and healthcare, business, and personalities for various sites and publications, including Hour magazine, Knight Foundation, Metro Times, WebMD, and Prosper magazine. She is happy to be a part of this month’s TBD, exposing a new readership to Broadside Lotus Press, the oldest African-American publishing house in the nation, a place that embraced – and is now digitizing – the work of revolutionary poets who lived and passed through Detroit.
